| Magnetic Earphones - Series Or Parallel? |
I am thinking of building a set of earphones for my regen radio, as an alternative to my extremely uncomfortable antique magnetic earphones. I found some cheap earphones at Antique Electronic Supply (P-A102) that I will use, what is the best way to connect them, series or parallel? I got this idea from the first project on http://www.schmarder.com/radios/index.htmexcept he's using piezo earpieces instead of magnetic. |

If you want to attach both earphones together you may have problems - in series the impedance will be effectively doubled, halving the power each gets (if they are both of the same impedance); in parallel the impedance will be halved potentially causing damage to the output of your radio. If I were you, I would build or buy two headphone amplifiers to buffer each set. - -- Brendan Gillatt | GPG Key: 0xBF6A0D94 brendan {a} brendangillatt (dot) co (dot) uk http://www.brendangillatt.co.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (MingW32) iD8DBQFIHIIUuv4tpb9qDZQRAulqAJ0cvRcYdPMxs8w6IDKxc+Pnw/5c9QCgrzLQ Nkhh7RpnmpLUyWZdPKOtr84= =W5r6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
